The LifeGrid platform unites all scientific stakeholders in Auvergne (public and private laboratories, businesses) by creating a regional information system that will organise, store and distribute the data obtained from research.
LifeGrid projects
Agronomy themes
The LifeGrid projects related to agricultural sciences and focusing on plant improvement and health. The list of projects is presented below.
An information system devoted to managing and processing transcriptome and proteome data of bread wheat.
This project aims to construct a data management and processing tool that will be a reference for the transcriptome and proteome of wheat. This system will serve as a basis for developing a knowledge-based system around the description and analysis of the regulatory and signalling means of genetic expression.

INRA UMR ASPImprovement of plants in silico: computer tools for creating plant varieties
With a view to integrating all the data from our research more effectively and to increasing the capacity to process this information better, we are constructing a decisional database, populated by more or less independent operational systems and making multidisciplinary investigations and analyses possible. This central multi-species database will contain all of the useful data for research programmes on the subject of variety creation: marker and mapping data, genotyping data (results), phenotype data, pedigree data, analysis results (QTL and other).

LIMAGRAINDevelopment of a plant species genomic sequence annotation pipeline on the AUVERGRID regional grid
The projects’ objectives are: 1. to enable the “TriAnnotPipeline” pipeline, developed in close cooperation with the Research Unit in Genomics and Bioinformatics (INRA-Evry), to benefit from the advantages of the AUVERGRID computing grid (parallel computing). 2. to store and archive the data from the pipeline. 3. to implement new functions (modules) so as to make TriAnnotPipeline more performing and easier to use.

INRA UMR ASPSetting up and installation of databases and programs for the development of plant bioinformatics
The project’s aim is to gather together all of this information on Auvergne within easy reach of most users. A series of servers will be installed to be able to store the public data available, given the ever-increasing volume of these data. These servers will also contain a number of application programs for the public, for business or for Biogemma or in Génoplante. A network will be set up to connect all of Biogemma’s and its shareholders’ sites. The intranet, already in place, will be adapted to the new configuration.
