Newsletter 3: LifeGrid theme-based seminars

With a view to maximising sharing of ideas on the applications selected for the programme, 9 theme-based seminars have now provided opportunities for presenting almost all the selected projects to the scientific community involved in the fields of life sciences and computer science.

In general, seminar format was designed to enable presentation of numbers of LifeGrid projects with points in common, inviting external speakers to attend with a view to encouraging future collaboration.

For information, the seminars enabled sharing of ideas on the following sets of themes: Computer grid contribution to life sciences (29 March 2007), Genome annotation (23 November 2007), Safety of medical data (18 December 2007), Biochips: design and analysis (12 March 2008), Databases in rare diseases (18 March 2008), Identification of regulation sequences (25 March 2008), Plant improvement (27 June 2008), Ethics, computer science and disability (30 June 2008), and Distributed computing (10 July 2008)
